STAR REPORTER BAGS EARTHSAVERS AWARD

Star reporter Katherine Adraneda is among the recipients of this year’s Fr. Neri Satur Award for her exposé on illegal logging and the need to protect the forests. This was announced yesterday by former Sen. Heherson Alvarez, founding chairman of Earthsavers-Climate Institute’s Asia liaison office and UNESCO Philippine Commission Secretary General Preciosa Soliven.

This was announced yesterday by former Sen. Awards rites will be held today at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Fr. Neri Satur Award has been institutionalized by the Earthsavers Movement to honor his heroism in defending the environment. Every year, the Earthsavers Movement which is the Asia liaison secretariat of Climate Institute, organizes the award. Past awardees were Fr. Ben Beltran, Sister Aida Velasquez, Fr. James Reuter, Fr. Jet Villarin of Klima, UNILEVER, Sister Luz Emmanuel, ASIN and several Environment and Natural Resources employees who have sacrificed their lives for the environment.
