South-South Program for Disaster Risk Reduction

Dir. of the Inter-American Center for Peace and Security in Colombia (right), discusses the south and south cooperation program between the Philippines, Kenya, and Colombia to design local disaster mitigation and risk management plans, with the three countries’ experiences in addressing climate change disasters, in accordance with the Hyogo Framework for Action (2005-2015), as a preparation for the RIO+20 in Brazil in June  and the UNFCCC meeting of the 18th COP in Qatar in November.

A Tri-Continental Roundtable Discussion was held at the Pimentel Center for Local Governance, University of Makati, hosted by Sen. Pimentel, and prior to that, a presentation/discussion by the different government agencies of the DRR program at the DENR hosted by Sec. Ramon Paje, who also heads the Cabinet Cluster on Climate Change, UNESCO Dream Center and the ASEAN Institute for Strategic Studies.
